Like the chair that sits empty after a loved one goes to Heaven, or that silent, empty bedroom when your child moves out, we all have “empty spaces” that long to be filled. But the worst voids are those areas of our lives where we don’t yet have answers that we ache to see. While in the desert of Judah, David cried out to the Lord, “You, God, are my God, earnestly I seek You, I thirst for You, my whole being longs for You, in a dry and parched land where there is no water.” (Psalm 63:1)
We are deep into the last days, where spiritual warfare is constant. The relentless waves of evil, injustice, lawlessness, and cruelty have carved a hole into our lives, much like the crashing waves create caves along the cliff’s edge. God’s people are worn down and weary, unsure of what the future holds for their families. But God sees ALL - even these empty places that cry to be filled with something Good - a touch from God…
When God moved in front of Moses, He reminded him of something very important; “I AM Yahweh, the Lord, the God of compassion and mercy. I AM slow to anger and FILLED with unfailing love and faithfulness.” (Exodus 34:6)
His over abundance of all we need and long for, is ready to be poured into our lives if only we would seek Him - only Him - and ask Him to fill our empty places with His goodness… “For He satisfies the thirsty and FILLS the hungry with good things.” (Psalm 107:9)
Friends, we have a Hope in Christ that fills us up! “And this Hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us because He has given us the Holy Spirit to FILL our hearts with His love.” (Romans 5:5)
When God fills the empty places, there’s no room for anything else.
