Growing Brighter

Devotional by Lisa Cataford

Sandwiched between the chapters of the Feasts of the Lord and the Year of Jubilee (Leviticus 23 and 25), comes a chapter on keeping the Menorah continually lit. Many commentators think it’s a misplaced chapter. But it’s not. The Feasts of the Lord give us the timetable of Christ’s victories from the Cross (Passover), until His reign in righteousness (the Year of Jubilee). Between those events, we are to walk faithfully, confidently, and joyfully, in the light of the Lord.

The pure gold Menorah symbolized Jesus as the Light of the World. It’s seven branches remind us that Jesus made seven claims, which only One who is God could make… “I am the Bread from Heaven… I am the Light of the World… I am the Door… I am the Good Shepherd… I am the Resurrection and the Life… I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life… I am the true Vine.” – (John 6:51, 8:12, 10:10, 10:11, 11:25, 14:6, 15:1).

As Believers, we “walk in the light”, possess “armor of light”, and our churches are called “Lampstands” to our communities. Only in Christ do we have hope that grows brighter and brighter while the world grows darker and darker. And our future City has… “no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God lightens it, and the Lamb is the Light of it. And the nations of those who are saved shall walk in its Light.” – (Rev. 21:23,24).

We can see the Finish Line coming into view. Prophecies are being fulfilled at a quickening rate and we know that “He who shall come, will come, and will not delay” just as He promised. May it quicken our steps and rejoice our hearts to know the Trumpet of the Jubilee is about to sound, and the “glorious appearing” of our God will fill the world with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord as the waters cover the sea.”

Maranatha!
