Gold Refined By Fire ...

Devotional by Cheryl Hall

The book of Revelation talks about the seven churches. The last church is the church of Laodicea. It’s important that we see what God had to say to them because we are living in the time of the last church ... “I know your works, you are neither hot nor cold. I wish you were hot or cold, but because you are lukewarm I’m going to spit you out of My mouth. You say you are rich, prosperous, and need nothing, not realizing that you are wretched, poor, pitiable, naked. I counsel you to buy from Me gold refined by fire, that you may be rich, and white garments that you may clothe yourself and the shame of your nakedness is not seen, and salve to anoint your eyes so you may see. Those whom I love I reprove and discipline, so be zealous and repent. Behold, I stand at the door and knock” - (Revelation 3:15-20).

Friends, we’re watching pastors be threatened with jail for keeping their churches open. The Chicago mayor sent armed police to churches that were open on Sunday, yet she encouraged thousands of rioters to express themselves. Another city, turned off the water and electricity to open churches in their vicinity, so the Believers sang acapella by window light. This isn’t about a virus, this is about control over people. Who will we kneel to?

Those that choose to follow God’s counsel and purchase from Him gold refined by fire, are those willing to take the heat for putting God first. They are content to let their popularity plummet, and their reputations be smeared, in order to follow Him courageously, even if it means jail. This is a purifying time. We are either going to follow God or man. For many, the fence is definitely getting harder to ride! Let’s be careful to choose those things, that when offered to God, honor Him.
