God Waits

“… At one time the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was being prepared, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved through water.” – 1 Peter 3:20

God waited 120 years for eight souls. But in those years, everyone heard the invitation to be saved. How good God is! God waited 400 years to give the land of Canaan to Abraham and his descendants because “the iniquity of the Amorites was not yet full.” And He is waiting today until… “The Gospel must first be preached among all nations, then shall the end come.”

Souls are precious to our God because they are the eternal part of us. Eternity is a long time to spend in the Lake of Fire, so God lovingly and patiently waits for everyone to hear the offer of salvation through the Cross of Christ. It is the main priority on His timetable and Jesus let us in on the fact that all Heaven rejoices when one sinner repents and is saved.

Since “the life of the soul is in the blood,” we can only be redeemed “by blood.” The Law of God stated clearly… “Without the shedding of blood is no remission of sins.” The wonder that we are “redeemed by the precious blood of Christ” will only grow dearer and sweeter throughout eternity.

Our patient waiting for Christ’s return is based on His patience… “Be patient therefore, brethren, unto the coming of the Lord. Behold, the Husbandman is waiting for the precious fruit of the earth, and has long patience for it, until he receives the early and late rains. You must be patient also; establish your hearts: for the coming of the Lord IS drawing near.” – (James 5:7,8)

Today is a day of salvation. Hallelujah!
