“In the beginning was the Word. And the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by Him, and without Him was not anything made that was made. In Him was life; and the life was the light of mankind” (John 1:1-4).
This name for Jesus describes His power. In Genesis, He spoke, and the world came into being. He said, “Let there be…” And there was. But it also proves that our God wants communication. He made us for fellowship. He invites all people… “Come, let us reason together. Though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow” (Isaiah 1:18).
Our Bibles are called “The Word of God” because they reveal the Living Word. God wants us to reason, think, understand, and know Him. He wants us to know truth, love truth, and walk with Him in truth. He wants us to know that our past sins haven’t deterred His love for us. He can forgive, cleanse, make new, and help us start over by His power.
The marvel of the ages will be that “The Word became flesh and dwelt among us,” then died on a Cross to forgive our sins, that we might share His eternal glory.
And no matter how evil this world gets before Christ returns, He encourages… “Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty man glory in his strength, let not the rich man glory in his riches: But let the one who glories glory in this – that he understands and knows Me, that I am the Lord who exercises lovingkindness, justice, and righteousness, in the earth, for in these things I delight, says the Lord” (Jeremiah 8:23,24).
