God Knows

Devotional by Lisa Cataford

“I love Your commandments above gold; yes, above fine gold. Therefore, I esteem ALL your precepts concerning ALL things to be right; and I hate every false way” (Psalm 119:127,128).

After the Titanic sank in 1912, there were many survivors who shared their eyewitness testimonies of how the ship went down. But modern-day architects and scientists got together in 1984 and held a press conference on how the ship would have sunk.

An elderly survivor came forward saying they were mistaken. She had seen it all and remembered well. But the architects responded that since she was just a little girl at the time, she was confused by her experience.

But when the Titanic was finally discovered, in September of 1985, the aged lady was exonerated. The ship had snapped exactly where she said – and all the “experts” who weren’t there, and who didn’t see it or experience it, were found to be false.

The same is true with God’s Word. The Bible is one book, made up of 66 historical accounts of eyewitnesses who were there, who wrote what God instructed them to write. Like a puzzle, these pieces produce one beautiful picture of God’s plan of salvation for the world. This eternal Book is tested by history, flawless in prophecy, unfathomable in science, genius in psychology, just in morality, and has One Glorious Theme – the love of God through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Not only is God’s Word pure truth, but “the Lord is righteous in ALL His ways, and holy in ALL His works” (Psalm 145:17). He does ALL things well.

And this puts our faith on solid ground as we trust in Him, no matter what others say… “Trust in the Lord with ALL your heart; and do not lean on your own understanding. In ALL your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths” (Proverbs 3:5,6).
