“He that comes from Above is above all. He that is of the earth is earthly and speaks from an earthly perspective: but He that comes form Heaven is above all. And what He has seen and heard, that He testifies to us… he that has received His testimony has set to his seal that God is true” (John 3:31-33).
In Bible times, each family had a signet ring with which to do business. To “set your seal” upon a transaction was to commit your approval, reputation, and finances upon. When we receive Christ as Lord and God, we are “setting our seal” to the fact that He is true about everything.
The world says Jesus was merely a good man, a prophet, moral teacher, or an angel, but not “God in flesh.” Yet Jesus said, “If you do not believe that I AM (the exclusive name of Jehovah - Exodus 3:14), you will die in your sins” (John 8:24). We have set our seals that Jesus is God the Son.
The world says there are many roads that lead to Heaven. Jesus says, “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life. No one approaches the Father except through Me” (John 14:6). We have set our seals that there is only one Way of salvation.
The world mocks the return of Christ to establish His Kingdom in Jerusalem. But He says, “Wait upon Me, until the Day I rise up to the prey: for My determination is to gather the nations, that I may assemble the kingdoms, to pour upon them My indignation, even all My fierce anger: for all the earth shall be devoured by the fire of My jealousy (for Israel)” (Zephaniah 3:8).
