Fully Devoted

Devotional by Cheryl Hall-Laos

The Christians in Iran are being imprisoned and tortured for refusing to deny their faith in Jesus. The Nigerian believers are being gunned down in churches on Sunday morning as they worship, by Islamic militia. Our brothers and sisters in China are being refused food or medical care for professing their Christian faith. In America, we are being labeled haters, homophobic, etc., for defending the nuclear family and all its benefits proven over millennia. We are being called domestic terrorists for protecting our innocent children from a sexualized school agenda. The facts are clear… the world-wide Church is under satanic attack. What does the Bible teach us about critical times like this? The book of Acts and Colossians are our blueprint… “Devote yourself to prayer, being watchful and thankful… pray that God will open doors for us to share and that we may share the Gospel clearly. Pray that we act wisely toward outsiders and that we make the most of every opportunity… seasoning our words with salt and grace.” (Colossians 4) “Everyday they continued to meet together… they broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God… All the Believers were one in heart and mind. No one claimed that any of their possessions was their own, but they shared everything they had… God’s grace was so powerfully at work in them all that there were no needy persons among them.” (Acts 2:46-47, Acts 4) Dear ones, these are critical times, and we must band together. The Christian that thought that isolating alone at home would work, is finding their road hard and lonely. We need each other. Can you imagine a support system that is so effective that “there are no needy persons among us?” We can learn from our brothers and sisters in Acts. May we be fully devoted to living out these last days with great obedience, love and grace - just as God directed.
