Flipping The Script

“They have prepared a net for my steps; my soul is bowed down: they have dug a pit before me, into the midst of which they are fallen themselves. Selah (consider this).” – Psalm 57:6

The Bible is filled with God’s victories over wicked oppressors. It overflows with His promises of rescue to all who trust in Him. In His love and power, God flips the script for those who take Him at His Word. It begins with the Cross. The penalty for our sins, which should have brought us death, He took upon Himself, to give us His righteousness… “For He who knew no sin, was made sin for us, that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him.” (2 Corinthians 5:21).

The picture is seen in Israel, who suffered such cruelties at the hands of Pharaoh. But after they applied the blood of the Lamb, he who ordered the baby boys to be drowned, drowns – along with his army who enforced such evil – in the Red Sea.

When foreign rulers cast the people of God out of their cities… “They wandered in the wilderness, in a solitary way; they found no city to dwell in. Hungry and thirsty, then they cried to the Lord in their trouble, and He delivered them out of their distresses. And He led them forth by the right way, that they might go to a city of habitation… He pours contempt upon princes, and causes THEM to wander in the wilderness, where there is no way, yet He sets the poor on high from affliction…” – (Psalm 107).

What are we waiting for? The greatest flipping of the script ever seen. So let us fix our hearts on His promises, sing, and walk in certainty, as people who know their God.
