In the face of deadly hostility and lies, David determined to focus on the Lord… “I will remember You upon my bed and meditate on You in the night watches. Because You have been my help, therefore, in the shadow of Your wings I will rejoice… those who seek my soul, to destroy it, shall go to the lower parts of the earth… but the king shall rejoice in God… and the mouth of those who speak lies shall be stopped.” (Psalm 63:6-11)
Asaph, feeling so depressed at the workers of lawlessness having the upper hand, wrote… “I will remember the works of the Lord: surely I will remember Your wonders of old. I will meditate also on all Your works, and talk of Your doings… who is so great a God as our God? You are the God of miracles: You have declared Your strength among the people. You have with Your arm redeemed Your people....” (Psalm 77:11-15)
While awaiting His return, it does our hearts good to remember that He is “The Faithful God” who keeps His Word and His schedule, while He keeps His people. “When the fulness of time was come” Jesus came to earth. When “His hour” was come, He died. When His “three days” were up, He arose and defeated death. He ascended to Heaven and “when the day of Pentecost was fully come," poured out His Holy Spirit right on time.
He has “appointed a day” in which He will judge this world in righteousness, and it’s more certain than tomorrow’s sunrise. Through all these years, He has guarded, guided, kept, and delighted His own. He won’t stop now. Take time today to feed on His faithfulness and He will fill your heart with joy and strength.
