I love to read missionary stories, especially ones written near the end of their lives, as it shows the unfailing faithfulness of God.
Isn’t it a precious thought that the same God that was faithful to Moses, to Noah, to David, and Paul, is faithful to you? Sometimes, in the stresses and rush of life, we need to stop and remember all He’s brought us to and through. We will find He’s been completely faithful in every detail.
Scripture reminds us that the faithfulness of God to His own is part of our inheritance. It’s already been decided that we will be recipients of His steadfast faithfulness. It’s a contract that won’t be cancelled or annulled due to changing circumstances, but is a Rock-solid assurance that as long as we live, we will receive His perfect and dependable faithfulness.
“But this I remember, which fills me with hope, the faithful love of the Lord never ends! His mercies never cease. Great is His faithfulness; His mercies begin afresh every morning. I say to myself, ‘The Lord is my inheritance; therefore, I will hope in Him!’ The Lord is good to those who depend on Him, to those who search for Him. So it is good to wait quietly for salvation from the Lord.” (Lamentations 3:21-26)
Dear friends, whatever may be happening, peace and prosperity, or trials and tribulations, we can rest in the complete and utter faithfulness of God to carry us through. He’s promised it. It’s our inheritance. May we stop to reflect on this precious truth, and may it fill our hearts with hope and joy.
