Established & Strong

While many are working to destabilize our nations by removing our foundations of laws and faith, God promises stability for His people… “I thank my God always on your behalf, for the grace of God which is given to you in Jesus Christ, that in everything you are enriched by Him - in the spoken Word, and all knowledge, even as the testimony of Christ was confirmed in you, so that you come behind in no gift, awaiting the revelation of our Lord Jesus Christ: who shall also confirm (strengthen and stabilize) you to the end, that you may be blameless in the Day of our Lord Jesus Christ..” (1 Corinthians 1:4-8).

The Lord gives us the metaphor of a tree and a building. We are growing and getting stronger while the world decays… “As you have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him: Rooted (tree) and built up (Temple) in Him, and established in the faith, as you have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving” (Colossians 2:6-7).

One year I started herbs from seed indoors and planted them once the frosts were over. They struggled and died. I couldn’t understand what went wrong. Then I learned I had failed to prepare them for the weather. A simple fan blowing on them while they grow inside, will strengthen and prepare them for the winds outside. It worked.

Similarly, the winds of change and outward circumstances of our world can work to stabilize us because it causes us to cling to Christ more - through His Word, prayer, and fellowship with His people. This strengthens our spiritual core and produces stronger, deeper roots that will hold firm.

Knowing this, may the Lord comfort your hearts and establish you in every good work and work “to the end.”
