Do You Hear Thundering Hoofs?

Devotional by Cheryl Hall-Laos

There’s nothing quite as beautiful as wild horses running free. Their eyes are untamed, faces and bodies scarred, and their manes are as wild as the wind. The book of Revelation warns us about the four horses of the Apocalypse. There’s nothing beautiful about them! They are dreadful, evil, and violent. It’s important we know who they are as we can hear their hooves approaching...

“And I looked and behold a white horse, and its rider had a bow, and a crown was given to him, and he came out conquering and to conquer” (Revelation 6:2). This is an imposter, the Antichrist. He comes in “peace” but “destroys many.” His bow is a threat of war but notice he has no arrows, as he pretends to be harmless. He was given his authority/power (crown) by God for a time only, that “sin would come to fulfillment.” He is pure evil coming to conquer humanity into complete submission. He will bring about a one world system, economic stability, and a false peace, including peace in the Middle East.

“And out came another horse, bright red. Its rider was permitted to take peace from the earth, so that people should slay one another, and he was given a great sword” (Revelation 6:4). This horse represents great bloodshed and war. As we speak, the Middle East is a powder keg waiting to blow. Iran is building a nuclear weapon to “wipe Israel off the map.” North Korea is hungry for respect, desiring an intercontinental ballistic nuke to earn it. Russia is now positioned in Syria ready to attack Israel at the shortest notice. China claims it will be THE world power, and they’re well on their way. This horse is so very close...

“And behold a black horse whose rider held a scale in his hand, and I heard a voice say-three quarts of barley for a denarius (a day’s wage), but do not harm the oil and wine.” (verses 5, 6) This rider represents a false famine forced on humanity. Notice the oil and wine is protected for those in power. Haven’t we all experience bare shelves in our grocery stores? Was it a trial run to see how fast society breaks? We must remember that the antichrist leads all of these horses, and he will not permit anyone to “buy or sell (even food) without his mark - the mark of the beast.” It’s coming...

“And behold, a pale horse, and its rider’s name was Death, and hell came with him. And they were given authority over a fourth of the earth to kill with the sword, with famine, with pestilence, and the wild beasts of the earth” (vs’s 7, 8). This horse brings with it massive death - a quarter of the world’s population will die. This is not accidental, but well planned. It’s not hard to imagine a superpower using a famine, war, or biological weapon, to bring about their much desired population reduction. You can hear this horse like it’s just around the corner!

Dear ones, all of this happens AFTER we’re raptured. Revelation 1:7 - “Behold He is coming in the clouds, and every eye shall see Him...” May the truth of the coming horses cause us to be bold in warning others that Another is coming - Jesus! Be prepared to meet Him.
