Divine Endurance

Devotional by Cheryl Hall-Laos

Wherever the Spirit of God is there is a strength and endurance that defies its present circumstances.

The Children of Israel were led by God through a desert for 40 years! Yet, they were given all they needed to survive. “I have led you forty years in the wilderness. Your clothes have not worn out on you, and your sandals have not worn off your feet.” (Deuteronomy 29:5)

Dear friends, God never leads us where He doesn’t care for us. The question arises then, “What in my life hasn’t worn out?” We will find the answer to this is: everything that is tethered to God is given a Divine endurance.

Our love for God, and each other, not only endures the greatest of hardships, but grows and deepens. Our hope may waiver with the pummeling of life’s waves, but it remains and endures. Our faith grows deeper and deeper as this world grows more dark and evil. And the sandals on our feet? They represent the undying Gospel. “And as shoes for your feet, always be ready with the Gospel of peace.” (Ephesians 6:15)

The Gospel never wears out or becomes dated. It is eternally the greatest Gift of God. As Believers, we walk in this Truth. Wherever we go, this precious Gospel goes with us. Throughout the centuries, the spilled blood of those that love the Lord has only set the roots of the Gospel deeper, and their testimony endures to all generations.

Dear ones, in spite of a weariness of soul that we all feel, may we be keenly aware of all that we have that never, ever wears out. For, it is a gift from God.
