If anyone is watching carefully to the events happening across the Middle East, Europe, and Africa, one thing is clear – countries are choosing sides and preparing for conflict. Israel will not allow Iran to aim a nuclear warhead in their direction and a pre-emptive strike is both wise and necessary. The long-awaited battle is about to begin.
But if there is an earthly sense of urgency to pick sides wisely, there is a far greater urgency spiritually. Before he died, Moses urged his generation… “I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore, choose life, that both you and your offspring may live” – (Deuteronomy 30:19). Joshua, at the end of his life, pleaded with the next generation… “Choose you this day whom you will serve.” The prophet Elijah challenged his generation… “How long do you halt between two opinions?”
God, in His faithfulness, has sent to every generation a preacher who faithfully proclaimed the message of the Cross so that people might understand there are only two choices - the narrow way that leads to life, or the broad road that leads to destruction; Heaven or Hell; Jesus or outer darkness – and that we might choose Life.
The message has always come with urgency… “Now is the day of God’s favor, now is the time to accept Him! Today is the day of salvation! Today if you hear His voice, don’t harden your hearts!” Revelation begins with, “The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave to Him, to show to His servants things which must shortly (quickly, speedily) come to pass…” and ends with a triple alert… “Behold, I come quickly… behold, I come quickly… Surely, I come quickly” – (Revelation 22:7,12,20).
We may not have a megaphone to shout to the world, but we can urgently sound the trumpet in our own circles, “Prepare to meet your God!” The long-awaited battle is about to begin.
