Building Inspector

A local newspaper, noting the devastating power of earthquakes, wrote… “Flourishing cities can lie in utter ruins within an hour.” I couldn’t help but think of headlines in the Bible that sound very similar… “Alas, alas! That great city Babylon… for in one hour such great riches is come to nothing!” (Revelation 18:16,17)

Earthquakes today are from a groaning earth. They are not signs of God’s judgment until after the Rapture. Then, during the Great Tribulation, God will send multiple earthquakes that will rock the world and remove every island into the sea (Revelation 6:14,16:20).

As we watch the modern “Babylon” rising today, think of the years of scheming, equipping, financing, and placing of their puppets. But “unless the Lord builds the house, they labor in vain that build it” (Psalm 127:1).

Jeremiah warned the nations that God is the great Building Inspector, and that truth still applies today to nations and lives. He will either throw down and destroy that which is built in wickedness, or He will build and plant that which is done in righteousness. And just as He graciously offers repentance to individuals, so He offers the same mercy to nations. Only our wonderful God, who is holy, righteous, and good, would pay for the sins of mankind in His own blood, then offer pardon, cleansing, restoration, peace, and eternal blessing. His grace IS amazing!

While modern day Babylon rises, those who love Christ and have read the end of the Book, can rest assured that we are safe in Christ. He said, “I will build My Church (people) and the gates of hell will not prevail against it.” He’s the Builder and Architect of a Kingdom nothing can shake or destroy.

Blessed and secure are those who build their lives on His Word.
