Build The Family Of God

Noah built an ark to save his family while the wicked tore down everything right and good. Abram built an altar every place he pitched his tent that his family might worship the one True God in a land full of idolatry. Joshua and the leaders of Israel built six cities of Refuge, that the people of Israel, so newly rescued from slavery, might have a place to flee for help, justice, and mercy.

When Ezra and Nehemiah returned to Israel after 70 years in captivity, Ezra built up the people in God’s Word while Nehemiah built a wall of protection from enemies. Zerubbabel and another Joshua helped build the second Temple that people might “seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness,” in anticipation of Messiah’s arrival.

God is a Builder and He has made all His children “builders.” When Peter acknowledged Jesus as the Messiah, the Son of the Living God, Jesus said… “Blessed art thou, Simon, son of Jonah: for flesh and blood has not revealed it to you, but My Father which is in Heaven… and upon this rock (of truth) I will build My Church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.” – (Matthew 16:18)

No death, no dangers, no legion of demons, can stop the “good work” Christ began in you and through you. His Building will be finished in perfection, right on time. Knowing this, while He builds us, we can build up (edify) others also. This is what a true family does… “But you, beloved, build up one another on your most holy faith…” - (Jude 1:20).

What a great, eternal building project to be a part of. And when the Church is complete, Jesus will return to build the Tabernacle of David too.  While the world tears everything down, build. Our work is forever.
