From the moment of conception, you were intimately known and loved by God, and given eternal purpose… “Your eyes saw my substance, yet being unperfect, and in Your book all my members were written, which continued to be fashioned, when as yet there was none of them. How precious also are your thoughts (plans/purposes) towards me, O God! How great is the sum of them! If I should count them, they are more in number than the sand!” (Psalm 139:16,17)
But Jesus was born knowing hatred and the Cross awaited Him… “I am afflicted and ready to die from My youth up” (Psalm 88:15). Can you imagine carrying that weight through life? Although Christ’s early years are not fully revealed to us, we are given glimpses… “Many a time have they afflicted Me from My youth: yet they have not prevailed against Me. The plowers plowed upon My back: they made long their furrows (Psalm 129:2,3).
Because Jesus was born to carry the weight of our sins, we are born under the truth that we are eternally loved and invited to share an “eternal weight of glory.” Because Jesus took the fierce wrath of God for our transgressions, no child of God will ever face the wrath of God… “Therefore, being now justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him” (Romans 5:9).
The Cross of Christ is the greatest proof of God’s love and power this world will ever know: God is not willing that ANY should perish, but that ALL should come to repentance. As the clock ticks toward the midnight hour, the truth of the Cross shall only grow sweeter throughout eternity - we were born to be loved – and we shall forever love Him, because He first loved us.
