Blessed And Happy

Devotional by Cheryl Hall-Laos

Everyone is familiar with Jesus’s message on the beatitudes in Matthew 5. It’s filled with what appears to be great contradictions that don’t fit a worldly narrative, but is God’s proper order in all things. The word “blessed” is also translated, “happy.” In God’s economy, worldly pain is translated into eternal joy. The importance, for us, in seeing past this life’s pain, into eternity, can’t be overstated! It’s essential for living a healthy, godly life…

1. Blessed are the poor in spirit for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

2. Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the land.

3. Blessed are those who mourn for they shall be comforted.

4. Blessed are those who hunger and thirst after righteousness(justice) for they shall have their fill.

5. Blessed are the merciful for they shall obtain mercy.

6. Blessed are the pure (clean) in heart for they shall see God.

7. Blessed are the peacemakers for they shall be called the Children of God.

8. Blessed are those that suffer persecution for righteousness’ sake for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

9. Blessed are you when others insult you, persecute you, and falsely say all kinds of evil against you, because of Me. Rejoice and be glad, for great is your reward in heaven...

As we enter deeper into these end days, it’s essential we keep our emotions in check. We WILL feel depleted (poor), and mournful for what this sinful world could’ve had in God, but refused. Our hearts will feel persecuted, and even mistreated by the ones you thought you could trust… just for speaking the Truth of God’s word. If we defend the children’s need for an innocent childhood, void of sexually perverse agendas that seek to ensnare them in sexual sin, we will be hated. This grief, for righteousness’ sake, is all foretold by our Lord.

We must remember that He will take all this hurt and turn it into joy for doing His will. We must keep our calling sure. We aren’t called to hide away, or be silent, but to be salt and light. But the rot hates the salt, and the darkness hates the revealing light. May we continue to be about our Father’s business, with joy and confidence. Great will be our reward.
