Being Faithful

Devotional by Lisa Cataford

“I will sing of mercy and justice: to You, O LORD, I will sing. I will behave myself wisely in a perfect way. O when will You come to me? I will walk within my house with a perfect heart.” – Psalm 101:2

As we look at the landscape outside our own windows, we see apostasy everywhere. How quickly morality disintegrates when it is only upheld by the virtue of others! Without salvation, which leads to personal integrity and wholeheartedness before God, our society quickly declines into depths of depravity unknown in other generations just as Jesus forewarned. He said the “last generation” of apostasy would be worse than the first generations of ignorance – and here we are.

But it’s not just our world. Many churches claiming to love Christ are also proving their apostasy. Just this week, a men’s conference hired a male pole dancer for entertainment… a Church irreverently punt-kicks Bibles into the audience, while they laugh, and those claiming to love Jesus march with those hating His nation. These people have never knelt in shame over sin at the Cross of Christ. Their churches are social clubs, and the ways of the world are in their hearts.

What are we to do in this time of apostasy… lock our eyes on our faithful Lord and know that His eyes are upon those faithful to Him… “My eyes shall be upon the faithful of the earth, that they may dwell with Me. The one who walks in a perfect way, shall serve Me” (Psalm 101:6).

“Looking unto Jesus, the Author and Finisher of our faith, who for the joy set before Him (saving us eternally) endured the Cross, disdaining the shame, and is sitting down at the right hand of the Throne of God.”

He is coming for His faithful Bride.
