Being Confident

A Christian man boarded a plane and found his seat was next to a young girl riding alone at the front. He said a friendly hello and settled in. Halfway through the flight, the plane hit turbulence. When it got worse, the passengers were reminded to buckle up, put away drinks and food, and emergency instructions were rehearsed. A sense of uneasiness filled the plane. The man looked at the little girl beside him and asked if she was alright. “Oh yes, I’m fine,” she said with a confident smile, “My Daddy’s flying the plane.”

How powerful is childlike faith. We’ve hit terrible turbulence in our world, but the Lord not only told us it was coming, He encouraged us in advance to “be still and know that I am God.”

When King David hit the turbulence of a coup, he said, “Though an army should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear: though war should rise against me, in this will I be confident… the Lord is the strength of my life, of whom shall I be afraid?” (Psalm 27).

The Apostle Paul, through all His missionary turbulence was “persuaded” that nothing could separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. From a jail cell, he wrote… “Being confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will perform it until the Day of Jesus Christ” (Philippians 1:6).

We stand on the borders of a global victory that all creation has waited with bated breath for since the dawn of time - and all creation will forever remember and celebrate. There’s only one way to go through this turbulence that will honor the Captain of our salvation – sweet, unshakeable, childlike faith.

We’re in Good Hands.
