Scripture is filled with nameless nobodies that were used for His glory, seeking no notoriety or praise. They are the army behind the curtain that seldom rests. From the days of the Old Testament, to our own day, God’s silent army is real! They pray with such dedication that they move world events. They lay the petitions of the people at the foot of the Throne, asking for God’s mercy, grace and justice to be brought to fruition.
A famous evangelist once declared that to put on just one evangelistic crusade took over a thousand unnamed volunteers. Think of your life, your families’ lives, and all the times that events have been changed that spared you all great heartache, or opened up doors of unforeseen blessings! We could all write books about it.
We are blessed beyond measure by those that uphold us in prayer, AND, by the other silent army - the angelic realm… “Angels are ministering spirits sent out to serve for the sake of those that will inherit salvation” (Hebrews 1:14). “For He will command His angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways” (Psalm 91:11).
Who was the worship leader that led the singers before Jehoshaphat’s army? (2 Chronicles 20:21). Nameless… Who was the owner of the colt that Jesus rode into Jerusalem? No questions, no demands, just a willing heart to give whatever the Master was in need of (Luke 19:31). Who are the thousands upon ten thousands of voices singing to God in Heaven, that He is the Lamb, worthy of honor and glory and power, forever and ever?” (Revelation 5:13).
God knows each name; each willing heart that is willing to be seen and known by an audience of only One. May we lock arms with this silent army and march ahead in the work of His Kingdom. It will be our most important calling. This is why we can “be still and know that He is God,” because behind the scenes, mountains are being moved.
