“And Lot lifted up his eyes, and beheld all the plain of Jordan, that it was well-watered everywhere, before the Lord destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah, even as the garden of the Lord (Eden)…” – Genesis 13:10
God has two kinds of “before and after” examples that should not be ignored. The same God who is a Restorer, is also a Remover. Sodom was like Eden before the Lord judged it. Today, Sodom’s ruins by the Dead Sea are left “as an example” … “Even as Sodom and Gomorrah, and the cities around them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.” – Jude 7
Yesterday a dam in Ukraine was blown to bits. It happened unexpectedly and instantly. It was catastrophic and irreparable. So was Sodom’s judgment… “Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they ate, drank, bought, sold, planted, and built. But the same day Lot went out of Sodom, it rained fire and brimstone from Heaven, and destroyed them all. Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of Man is revealed.” – Luke 17:28-30
The God who loved us so deeply He gave His life to save us from our sins, “builds, plants, and restores” every soul who places their faith in Him. But He also “roots out, pulls down, destroys, and throws down” that which is defiantly evil (Jeremiah 1:10). The immoral utopia our leaders are attempting to force down our throats will end with God’s judgment of fire and these words… “Alas! Alas! In one hour, your judgment has come… in one hour your riches have come to nothing… in one hour you are made desolate!”
Surely, “Pride goes before destruction…”
