We are living in a time of great expectation for the return of Christ, and the Bible tells us God’s wedding banquet of salvation is ready… “Behold, I have prepared My dinner: My oxen and fatlings are killed, and all things are now ready… go therefore into the highways and as many as you shall find, invite to the marriage” (Matthew 22:4-9). God is ready.
Jesus said an interesting thing to unbelievers… “Your time is always ready.” The world is always ready to doubt and deny the truths of Christ. Jesus added... “The world cannot hate you, but it hates Me, because I testify of it, that its works are evil.” The world is ready.
Since God is ready, and the world is ready, it makes perfect sense that we should live ready also. We live ready to defend the love of God each day… “Set apart the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give a defense to everyone that asks you a reason of the hope that is in you” (1 Peter 3:15). We are also to live “ready to every good work” to show we no longer walk in darkness, that a door might be opened for the Gospel (Titus 3:1).
And most of all, we live each day ready to go when the trumpet sounds… “And at midnight a shout was made, ‘Behold, the Bridegroom is coming! Go out to meet Him!’ … And the Bridegroom came, and they that were ready went in with Him to the marriage: and the door was shut… watch therefore, for you do not know the day nor the hour in which the Son of Man comes” (Matthew 25:6-13).
There is no Believer in the world who ought to awake to a boring day. We have eternal purpose, power to live, a Savior to represent, a message of Life to share, and the glorious anticipation of our coming King. Be ready.
