As It Is In Heaven

Writer: Lisa CatafordLisa Cataford

When the disciples asked Jesus how to pray, He replied, “Our Father, who art in Heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven” (Matthew 6:9,10).

To work together with other Believers for His “Kingdom to come” is to recognize that the Gospel of Christ is everything that is needed for a Heavenly harmony to heal this world. We know that not all will believe in His name, but for those that give their lives completely over to Him, He will “Come in and save them. He will be a Helper to the helpless, a Father to the fatherless, a Great Physician that will bind up the wounds of the broken-hearted, and will never leave them or forsake them, loving them with an everlasting love.”

We must pray for “His will to be done on earth as it is in Heaven.” Why? Because the only Truth that can save this world is from the One who is “The way, the truth and the life.” The only forgiveness that can save the lost, is the forgiveness of sin by the only One worthy to take our sin upon Himself - Jesus Christ. This life is a gift, but it is only safe for eternity if it is “hidden in Christ” (Colossians 3:3). What a joy to KNOW that our last breath here is our first breath in Heaven. It sure takes the terror and sting out of death.

It is God’s will that “As many as received Him, He gave them the power to be called the sons of God” (John 1:12,13). May we pray that His will is our will, and may our lives reveal this as top priority, to participate in sharing His Saving Grace.

It is such a joy when we see lives changed, marriages saved, and families restored! It’s as though the blessing and harmony of Heaven is mirrored here on earth. May we continue to pray that “His will be done, on earth, as it is in Heaven.” Great things will come.
