Over the last few weeks, a great division has taken place in the Middle East. Alliances are forming for war. Sudan is in the midst of a coup, as is Ethiopia. Ambassadors are being called home while others have been given only 48 hours to be packed and gone. Israel is the dividing line. Those countries making peace with Israel are sticking together. Those hating Israel are uniting.
This ought to alert us as well, for all Believers are ambassadors for Christ. Our message is grace but it has a time-limit: the King of Heaven has offered pardon and full citizenship to those who have been hostile towards Him… “Now then, we are Ambassadors for Christ, as though God were urging you through us: we beseech you in Christ’s stead, be reconciled to God! For He (the Father) has made Him (the Son), who knew no sin, to be a sin-bearer for us, that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him.” – (2 Corinthians 5:20,21). All charges of treason and it’s ensuing death-penalty have been forgiven. Eternal Pardon can be received by a prayer of repentance and faith in Christ.
Paul took his role as an ambassador for Christ very seriously even in persecution. From prison, he asked the Believers to pray “that an opportunity may be given to me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the Gospel, for which I am an ambassador in chains: that in them I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak” – (Ephesians 6:19,20).
It’s a serious offense to harm an ambassador from another country. It’s seen as an act of war. The Father will absolutely avenge the death of His Son and the mistreatment of His Ambassadors at the hands of this wicked world. When Jesus calls us Home, things will move very quickly! Meanwhile, may the Lord help us to not lose sight of our Ambassadorship, whatever our lot may be.
Be ready!
