A Watered Garden

“And the Lord shall guide you continually, and satisfy your soul in drought, and make fat (healthy) your bones: and you shall be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters never fail.” – Isaiah 58:11

This marvelous promise was given in a time of national distress and religious hypocrisy. The Lord called the people, through the prophet Isaiah, to turn from sin and ritualistic religion, and come back to Him in sincerity of love. If they did, they would experience the vibrancy of His power in their lives.

When it came to worship, God never intended “religion” to become a dry, robotic performance of rituals, rehearsed prayers, and meaningless duties. Worship was always intended to be a personal relationship of thankfulness for forgiveness of sins and the gift of righteousness through Christ. When worship is genuine, it is a deeply soul-satisfying, refreshing, experience that never grows old - no matter the outward circumstances of the nation.

How precious these words are to us today. We’re living in a time of great rebellion and apostasy against God. Yet, those who have received the Lord Jesus Christ as their Savior have this same eternal promise, sealed to us by the presence of His Holy Spirit – that His guidance, nourishment, spiritual strength, and sustaining power in our lives, will never fail.

May your life stand out in this time of spiritual drought like a watered garden, tended by Christ Himself, while we await the Rapture. Since He is guiding us “continually”, may our testimony be: “I will praise the Lord at all times, His praise shall continually be in my mouth.”
