A Call To Courage

Devotional by Cheryl Hall-Laos

It’s no wonder that the evil one has worked overtime to create “comfort” as one of our modern gods. The strategy has been greatly successful, creating a people that prefer to zone-out than focus on important issues; a soft society that can’t handle an opposing view so they instantly go into the “rage and leave” mode. Standing up for those that are oppressed and have no voice is now too costly, leaving the vulnerable to be utterly destroyed. This seeking out of the lowest path of resistance, and maintaining comfort at all times, has resulted in a society that lacks heroes, defenders and deliverers. Courage is desperately needed and is a perfect reflection of Christ.

If we think that God sees the silent and indifferent as acceptable in His sight, we better check the Scriptures. “But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars - they will be consigned to the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death.” (Revelation 21:8)

A preacher recently stated that the aggressive agenda to kill the unborn, even the newborn, (and if they live to be older), the youth, is a direct hit to the heart of God, their Father, because Satan knows he cannot kill Jesus again, so he has determined that he will destroy God’s little children. Satan knows God sees all and has to watch them be destroyed. This is evil at its lowest form, but the majority of the churches sit in silence. “Speak up for those that cannot speak for themselves, ensure justice for those being crushed. Speak up and judge fairly; defend the rights of the poor and needy.” (Proverbs 31:8, 9)

The modern church says they “don’t want to be political,” yet they defy the instructions in Scripture and seek out the god of comfort. Their numbers in attendance is their most important standard and courage dissolves quickly under the “seeker friendly business model” of church, and God’s instructions are stiff-armed. If Paul could write us a letter of reprimand today, he would!

Be prepared, dear ones, to stand alone in this day of great compromise and silence. It takes God-given courage to not conform to the ways of this world, but to stand for godly principles of life. Don’t allow the majority to give you your instructions, but the living, breathing Word of God.

Before us lies two choices… life and death. Choose life, choose courage, choose to reflect Christ, our great and mighty Defender. By doing so you are choosing to love in word and deed.

Blessings will follow, but so will judgment from the majority. Let the chips fall where they may and live out the Word of God. This generation is depending on you.
